What is tallow?
Tallow is a carefully rendered beef fat that has been used to care for skin for centuries. Naturally rich in fatty acids similar to those found in the skin’s protective oils, it absorbs beautifully to nourish, soften, and help seal in moisture. Its compatibility with our skin is what makes tallow such a simple—and remarkably effective—form of care.

I created Shine Tallow to bring simplicity back to my skincare. The result is a deeply nourishing balm for skin meant to be lived in fully—through saltwater, sunshine, mountain air, and every other element we choose to immerse ourselves in.
Each jar is handmade in small batches from tallow, jojoba oil, and a thoughtfully chosen blend of essential oils. It doesn’t get much simpler than that.

Is tallow suitable for sensitive skin?
Our simple, minimal-ingredient formulas is well suited to sensitive skin, but every person’s skin is different. We recommend reviewing the full ingredient list and patch-testing a small amount before applying more broadly.
Does tallow smell like beef?
No. Properly rendered tallow has a mild, neutral scent—not a beefy one. Our thoughtfully chosen essential-oil blends give each balm its own subtle, natural aroma.
Why does the texture sometimes change?
Because our balm is made without synthetic stabilizers, its natural oils respond to temperature. It may soften in warmth, firm up in cooler conditions, or occasionally develop a slightly grainy texture after temperature fluctuations. This is completely normal and does not affect the quality of the product. Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
How long will a jar last?
A little tallow goes a long way. How long your jar lasts will depend on how often and where you use it—when used primarily on the face, one jar may last several months, while generous full-body use will naturally go through it more quickly.
What is the shelf life of a jar of tallow balm?
For the best freshness, we recommend using your tallow balm within 12 months. Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and ensure hands are clean and avoid introducing water into the jar.
